Mrs. Hugh McDonald, a long time resident of the Maurice community, died at her home, January 1, 1945 after an illness of over a year. She was 87 years old.

Catherine Buckley was born August 10, 1857, at Elkport, Iowa, and in 1883 came to Sioux County with her parents. She has lived here ever since.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Joe of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Francis of Glendale, California, William and Margaret, both at home. Also two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Lynch of Longview, Washington and Miss Nora Buckley of Le Mars. There are seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, James and John.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. from St. Mary’s Church in Maurice. Interment was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Reverend Father Vollmer, assisted by Reverend Bauer of St. James Church in Le Mars, officiated. St. Mary’s Choir of Alton sang. Pallbearers were Murat Doherty, Albert Mart, George Lang, T. K. Chapman, Roman Lovelle and Cecil Walsh of Le Mars.
