McCue's Recreation parlor was the scene of a sudden death about 9:45 Tuesday night when the owner and proprietor, Ray McCue, entered the place, stepped behind the counter and dropped dead from a heart attack. There were a number of patrons in the parlor at the time.

Mr. McCue came to Hawarden in 1945 and in partnership with his brother, Joe, now of Elk Point, ran a pool hall located in a building on the corner of Eights and Centeral where the new Farmer's State Bank building now stands. He later became sole owner and more recently moved into the present location on the east side of the street. Mrs. McCue assisted him in the business.

He was born at Armour, South Dakota, on June 13, 1903 and reached the age of 56 years. Prior to coming to Hawarden he worked for the railroad and resided at Westfield, Iowa.

Mr. McCue was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, third degree.

Survivors include the widow Bertha (nee Stevenson, whom he married in Kennebec, South Dakota); a daughter, Delores, Mrs. Ted Wood of Wilmington, California; a son, Larry, of Oakland, California; eight grandchildren; a brother, Joe; three sisters, Mrs. John Murphy and Mrs. Mildred Darvin of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Jerry O'Leary of El Paso, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Friday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at the Barnard Funeral Home at 8 o'clock tonight.
