Knapp, Jay H. born abt 1875 died 6 Jun 1885 age 10 yrs 5 mo and 27 days son of Chars and A. F. buried in Valley View cemetery at Rock Valley IA, as listed in the Sioux County IA cemetery index.

Herald: The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knapp, of Rock Valley, was drowned in the Rock river, about half a mile from the town last Saturday, at about 11 o'clock a. m. There were a number of little boys at the river with the deceased, who was only ten years of age. He un dressed and was wading around in the water when he slipped into a deep hole His little companions were unable to rescue him and they ran to town and gave the alarm, but before the body was found it had lain in the water about an hour. Physicians were present as soon as the body was taken from the water and everything possible was done in hopes restoring animation, but the vital spark had fled and all efforts were without avail. The stricken family have the sympathy of all in their affliction.

Porter born 17 Oct 1843 New York died 12 Jun 1934 Oregon. Children: Edith 1871, Georgia 1872, Gerogeanna 1873, Jay H. 1875-1885, Florence 1884, and Dudley Gilbert Knapp 1887-1965.
