John Brower, who was a victim of that dread disease pulmonary tuberculosis for nearly two years and who contended bravely for life, was compelled to yield to the inevitable Friday, Sept. 25, and stepped from this busy stage of life and disappeared behind the curtain of mortality, and entered the regions of immortality. Deceased was born June 3, 1877 in the Netherlands and at the time of his death was thirty-seven years, three months and twenty-two days. When seventeen years of age he came to the United States and came to Sioux county, where he has continuously resided until his passing. He was a painter by trade and pursued that calling until impaired health compelled him to retire. He was honest and upright in his dealing with men. He was industrious and a man of good habits and was held in the highest esteem by his friends. He leaves a mother, four brothers; Case, Ira, Nick and one in Africa, to mourn his early passing. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. De Jong pastor of the Reformed church of Rock Valley at the home of his mother Monday afternoon at two o'clock, after which his remains were laid to rest in Valley View cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the community in their hour of sorrow.
