Lorna Modder age 81 of George, IA died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in George, IA.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Boyden, IA with Rev. Mark Lund Officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Boyden.

Visitation will be Monday, February 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church of Boyden, IA.

Lorna Ann Modder was born July 12th, 1936 at the farm of Grandpa & Grandma Hundt in Boyden, IA. She was the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Hundt) Kruse. She attended grade school in Matlock, IA; then attended and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1954. She worked at the Sheldon Hotel after graduation until her marriage to Lawrence Modder on September 14, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Boyden, IA. They made their home on an acreage near Matlock, IA and in 1957 they moved to a farm south of George, IA. In 1962 they purchased what is currently the family farm and in 2012 they moved to their present home in George, IA. Lorna was a homemaker, farm wife, CNA, housekeeper and cook. Mostly, she enjoyed and loved spending time babysitting and attending activities for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Her summers were filled with gardening, canning, and playing solitaire. Milking cows with her grandchildren and farming were a big part of her life. She truly enjoyed being a farmers wife. She attended NCC in Sheldon and received a Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Rock Rapids Health Center and in later years she worked at the George Good Samaritan Center as a cook and housekeeping. Her job as a caregiver at the nursing home was important to her and she loved the time spent with the residents. She and Lawrence loved listening and dancing to polka music. Lorna was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was baptized at St. John's on August 2, 1936 and confirmed there on April 2, 1950.

Lorna is survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Karen (Darwyn) Wibben of George, IA; son, Gregory (Myra) Modder of George, IA; son, Bradley (Kathie) Modder of Queen Creek, AZ; son, Eugene (Lynn) Modder of George, IA; 12 grandchildren, Loralye Wibben, Dawndralee (Daniel) Gisolf, Kaeleigh (Chad) Bechler, Lance (Brian) Wibben, Scott (Emily) Modder, Dustin (friend Arie) Modder, Brianna Modder, Sydney (friend Quinn) Modder, Emily Modder, Amanda (Andrew) Sprock, Kaleb (friend Alyssa) Modder, Kally Modder; 11 great-grandchildren, Landree & Lillee Wibben, Danyka & Deedryk Gisolf, Hudsyn, Hadleigh & Haedyn Bechler, Gretin Modder, Anderson & Ashlyn Sprock, Kjerstyn VanVeldhuizen; sister, Joanne (Elmer) Winter of Boyden, IA; brother, Roger (LaDonna) Kruse of Sheldon, IA and brother, Larry (Sherri) Kruse; Boyden, IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, Donald.
