Funeral services for Larry Dean Van Zanten, 9, who died early Monday morning while enroute to the Sioux Center hospital, were held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Porter Fun eral home and 1:30 at the First Christian Reformed church in Rock Valley. Rev Durant Van Oyen officiated. Burial was in Valley View cemetery.

Larry was born Feb. 15, 1955,at the Sioux Center hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cornie Van Zanten, a sister Charlene; a brother, Randy; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kooima, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Van Zanten and great-grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Kooima.

A victim of muscular dystrophy since infancy, Larry's activities were limited and he had been confined to a wheel chair for about four years. He endeared himself to all who knew him by his sunny disposition, his love of nature, his quiet sense of humor and his patience in adjusting to his handicap. Despite his limitations he attended the Rock Valley Christian school regularly and had enrolled in the fourth grade last week. He accompanied his family on several extensive vacation trips and especially enjoyed being taken along on hunting and fishing excursions.
