Henry L. Luchtenburg, a resident of Orange City and vicinity his entire lifetime of 71 years, died at his home Saturday, October 6.

He was born on a farm west of Alton February 22, 1874 to pioneer parents. In 1900 he married Geraldine "Carrie" Van Wechel and eight children - 5 girls and 3 boys - were born to the union.

Mr. Luchtenburg is survived by his wife and children, who are Adolph, Leonard and Diana, Mrs. Cornie VerDoorn, all of Ashton; John, Mrs. (Christina B.) Van der Aarde, Mrs. Herman Fedders (Mina) and Mrs. John Zevenbergen (Blanche), all of Orange City. Ellen at home and an adopted daughter, Mrs. G. Blake of Glendale, California.

Also surviving are a brother, John Buurman of Orange City and one sister, Mrs. Nic Aalbers of Alton.

Funeral rites were held at the home and First Reformed Church of which he was a faithful member on Tuesday.

Mr. Luchtenburg was one of the well known farmers of this vicinity up to the time of his retirement and had a host of friends in this vicinity.
