Funeral services were held Monday February 5, at 1:30 P. M. at the Boyden United Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Martin Luther Horn of Sheldon formerly of Boyden, Rev. Henry G. Schoon officiating under the arrangements of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon. Burial was at the Boyden Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Peter Rol, Joe A Horn, Tim De Stigter, Roy Schaffer, Wm. Rehberg and Fred Reimers Se. Mrs. Peter Sietstra and Mrs. Dwight Blankers sang “Abide with Me” and “in the Garden” with Mrs. Kenneth Meyn at the organ.

Mr. Horn nee Margarette Kroll daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kroll was born Sept 2, 1877 at Hiede Germany. when a girl of 19 years, the family came to America settling in the Malcham, Iowa area. On October 29, 1896 she was united in Holy Marriage to Martin Luther Horn of Boyden, Iowa. They made their home in the Boyden area all their lives. They were the parents of one daughter, Dora Rohlfs of Sheldon and one son Wayne Horn of Richmond, California. They lived at Boyden until the passing of her husband when she moved with her daughter to Sheldon to the home she passed away on, Thursday, February 1st. at 12:30 P. M. at the age of 90 years and five months. She was confined to her bed for the past two years.

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Dora, son, Wayne, one grandson, Roger Rohlfs of Seattle WA, beside a host of nieces and nephews beside many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one grandson. Mr. Horn was a member of the Boyden United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Horn was "Aunt Gertie" or grandma to many that knew her and was always ready to give a helping hand when health permitted her where needed
