From the Sioux County Index (Hull), October 7, 1927:

ALBERT SCHOLTEN DIES

Albert Scholten, the 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit J. Scholten, passed away Tuesday evening at the hospital from some infection caused by a bruise on the leg which he had received at play at school some weeks ago. He was brought in last week and an X-Ray taken and everything possible was done to relieve him, but to no avail.

Albert was a bright boy, and a favorite among his young friends, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. It is a sad thing, indeed, to have a young life plucked from them so suddenly.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the home north of Hull and from the First Reformed church of this place. The Index joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
