Caroline Horkey, 91 years old, of Granville, IA passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Orange City Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Granville with Father Dan Greving officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4:30-6 p.m. Friday with a vigil prayer service at 6 p.m. all at the church in Granville. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home and Monument in Remsen. Caroline was born on March 24, 1926 at Granville, Iowa to Christopher and Agnes (Feller) Thorman. She was raised and educated in Granville, Iowa and recieved her education from the St. Joseph Catholic School.

On Oct. 29, 1945, she married Joseph Horkey at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. They lived and farmed north of Granville. In 1976 she moved to town. Caroline worked at the Orange City Hospital for 29 years. She has currently been a resident at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.

Caroline was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and church guild. She enjoyed gardening, reading, nights out with “the ladies”, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include, two sons, Daniel Horkey of Granville, and Wayne (Jane) Horkey of Alton, Iowa. Six Grandchildren, Dana (Kory) Riley of Des Moines, Laura (Mike) Martin of Des Moines, Gina Davis of Ankeny, Mike (Denise) Horkey of Alton, Luke (Katie) Horkey of Alton, Kendra (Lucas) Hough of Grareeinger, and18 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Darlene (Lee) Henrich of Fall Creek, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Marian (Robert) Schnurr, and a daughter-in-law Donna Horkey.

Casketbears will be Mike Horkey, Kory Riley, Luke Horkey, Mike Martin, Lucas Hough, and Gina Davis.
