Florence Termaat, 91, daughter of Joe and Annetta De Wit, was born May 27, 1926, at Hull, Iowa. She was raised on a farm, where she milked cows and helped pick corn. She walked to Country School no. 7 with the neighbors. She married Bud Termaat on March 10, 1949. They farmed one year north of Rock Valley and 57 years west of town. In 2007 they retired and moved to town. During the years on the farm, Florence enjoyed helping with the field work. She worked at Beverly’s Apparel and volunteered at many school and church functions.

She especially loved watching her grandchildren enjoy the farm. Florence found great enjoyment watching sports, playing cards, and working word puzzles. She found joy in the simple things of life and loved being surrounded by her family. Her love for the Lord was her testimony in her last days.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are two daughters, Anita Termaat of Escondido, California, Rhonda Triezenberg of Rock Valley; son, Bill (Jayne) Termaat of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Joni (Tim) De Jong, Barry (Jill) Termaat, Abby (Jason) De Groot, Dana (Nate) Isder, and Rob (Hosanna) Termaat; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lenora De Wit and Evelyn Huisman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and infant daughter, Jolynn; son-in-law, Ted Triezenberg; her parents; her husband’s parents; brother, Dutch De Wit; sister, Mildred Dirksen; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
