MRS. H. VANWOUDENBERG DEAD

Mrs. H. Van Woudenberg died at her home in Rock Valley Tuesday afternoon. She suffered a stroke of paralysis Sunday and failed until the end came. Mr. Van Wouden Berg died only a few weeks ago. A further account will be given next week.

MRS. H. VAN WOUDEN BERG

Mrs. H. Van Woudenberg, whose death was briefly mentioned in last Week’s Bee, was born at S’graveland, Netherland, June 1, 1852, and passed away at her home in Rock Valley June 28, 1927, aged seventy-five years and twenty-eight days. Her husband preceded her in death seven weeks and two days.

Mrs. Van Woudenberg spent her early life in Holland, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage March 21, 1879, to H. Van Woudenberg. To this union ten children were born, seven of whom are living and were here during the last illness and death of their mother.

Mrs. Van Woudenberg came to this country with her husband, about thirty-five years ago. They resided in Montana a few months and then moved to Hull where they lived five years. Later they lived one year in Maryland and six months in Chicago, then returned to Rock Valley vicinity and lived on farms near here for a few years. They retired from the farm seventeen years ago and moved to Rock Valley where Mrs. VanWoudenberg resided at the time of her death.

Mrs. Van Woudenberg is survived by her children as follows: Mrs. Jacob Westra, of Boyden, Mrs. John Speelman and Mrs. Simon Westra, Sheldon, Henry Van Woudenberg Jr., Inwood, Mrs. Jacob Schol, Little Rock, Iowa, Richard Van Woudenberg, Salem, S.D., and Edward Van Woudenberg, Akron, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Thursday afternoon, sermon by Rev. Douwstra, and the remains were taken to Hope Cemetery, near Hull, for burial.

Her death certificate has Maria J. Van Woouden Berg [sic], resident of Rock Valley 18 years and of the U.S. 36 years; born June 1, 1852 in Holland; parents E. J. Caster and Gennette Venedaal; died at 4:45 p.m. June 28, 1927, of apoplexy, duration 2 days; contributory cause, arteriosclerosis, duration 3 years.
