Mrs. Denis Mullin and son, M. P., of Hospers vicinity, Mesdames L.N. Wilsey and Mary D. Mullin of Sheldon were summoned to Hawarden Thursday of last week by a message notifying them of the death of Mrs. Katherine Burke, who crossed the silent river on that morning. The deceased lady was a pioneer resident of the vicinity of Hudson, S.D., and for several years previous to her demise had resided at Hawarden. She was the mother of the late Thomas Burke, who was prominent in South Dakota politics, of W. A. Burke of Hudson, S.D., and of Mesdames M.C. Callen and Elmer Johnson of Hawarden. Funeral services were conducted by Father Bradley Friday morning at the Catholic church in that town, after which the remains were taken to Jefferson, S.D. where other loved ones rest, for interment. Sheldon friends extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.
