Mr. Dale Boone, age 78, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 5, at 2:00pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Brian Keepers will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Friday at 12:45pm at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will after 5:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.

Dale Henry was born on February 28, 1939, in Orange City, the son of Henry Arthur and Dena Ione (Bonthuis) Boone. He was raised in Woodbine, where he graduated from high school. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College in Orange City. He also took further summer courses.

On December 23, 1960, he married Jean Carol Salie in Edgerton, Minnesota. They first made their home in Alton but lived mostly in Orange City, where Dale was a vocal music teacher at the Maurice – Orange City Community Schools. Jean passed away on November 23, 2011, in Orange City, after more than fifty years of marriage.

In May of 2014, Dale became a resident of Prairie Ridge.

In the early years, he was a member of the Methodist Church in Woodbine. He was currently a longtime member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where he served as a choir director and participated in a Bible study. He also directed a choir in Walker, Minnesota.

In addition, he belonged to the local Education Association and the Leech Lake Guide Association. Besides fishing, he enjoyed woodcarving.

Survivors include his son, Chad Boone, of Tampa, Florida; a sister, Lois Clark, of Apple Valley, California; a sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and Daryl Scholten, of Longville, Minnesota; nephews, Bryan, Scott, Kent, and Jeff; and nieces, Jill, Caley, and Megan.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Dr. Paul and Patricia Boone; a brother-in-law, Walter Clark; a nephew, David Clark; and Jean’s parents, William and Mathilda (Den Ouden) Salie.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice and the June E. Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City.
