ANDREW KOOYMAN BURIED AT ALTON

Andrew Kooyman passed away suddenly with heart failure at his home in Alcester on June 4th. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church in Alcester and burial was made in the family lot at Alton Nassau Township Cemetery, where Mr. Kooyman’s parents are laid to rest. The Odd Fellows and Rebeccas of Alcester were in charge of the services.

Mr. Kooyman was born at Ackley in 1877 but passed his boyhood in Sioux County, his parents having moved to a farm in the Newkirk vicinity. He was married in 1907 to Miss Kathryn Tatt of Orange City. Two daughters were born to this couple, Beulah and Margaret. The family have lived in South Dakota for some years, with the exception of two years at Sheldon. Tulare was their home for 11 years, but during the past four years they lived at Alcester, where Mr. Kooyman was a cream buyer for a year. He had not been in good health for a year, but was feeling much improved just previously to his sudden death, which was a great shock to his family and friends.

Besides his widow and daughters, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Tom Kooreman of Archer, Mrs. Harry Tiemens of Sauta Cruz, California and by one brother, C.J. Kooyman of Huron, South Dakota.

Mrs. Kooyman, with the two girls will remain here for a short time with her sister, Mrs. Ed Talsma, before returning to Alcester. Others here for the services were Mrs. Spencer Alpaugh of Aberdeen, Mrs. Kooyman’s sister; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kooreman, Edith and Mytle Kooreman of Alcester; Edward Kooreman of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Kooyman of Huron; Bob Tatt and family and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad of Talare; Mr. and Mrs. George Tatt of Sheldon.
