Claus Rudolf Henning, son of Peter Hennlng and his wife Margaretta, nee Worrmke, was born on the 19th day of July, 1882, in Isensee, Osten, a|d Oste, in Germany, When two weeks old he was consecrated to the Triune God in Holy Baptism. At the age of 14 years, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Osten, a|d Oste. After his confirmation, he was given into apprenticeship to a butcher. After his apprenticeship, he continued in the butcher trade until the year 1912. In the year 1906 at the age of twenty-four years, he immigrated to America. He found employment at his trade in Now York and stayed there for two years.

In 1908 he came to Boyden and soon found work in the Boyden meat market, where he worked for three years. On the tenth of May, 1911, he was married to Miss Bertha Reyelts. The young couple made their home for a short time in Hull, where Mr. Hennlng owned the city meat market. Since the first of November, 1912, he held the position with the Farmers Cooperative Association at Boyden, faithfully and ably serving the concern for eighteen years as manager of his branch of the business. About two years ago, Mr. Henning's health began to fail. An operation for goitre did not improve his condition. Parenchymatus nephritis had developed and finally caused his death. The end came at three o'clock in the morning of September 13, 1930. Mr. Henning had expressed the desire that his pastor should be
called In the morning, apparently for the purpose for the last time to partake of the Lord's Supper and commit his soul into the hands of his Redeemer. He did not live until morning. When it became certain that the time was at hand, he bade his wife and children farewell and soon afterward expired.

His age was forty-eight years, one month and twenty-four days. He is mourned by his widow, Bertha Henning, and three children, Robert age eighteen years, Velma fourteen years and Caroline five years, and by six brothers and 2 sisters, Henrich of Rushmore, Minn.; Herman of Bigelow, Minn.; Peter of Sibley, John, August and Frederich, near Hamburg, Germany; Mrs. Anna Blattner, Kreutchnach in Rhineland, Germany; Mrs. Marie Popke, Jersey City, N. Y.

He always had in mind the welfare of his company, but not to the disadvantage of those with whom. he had to deal. He had at heart also the welfare of his home town, and Boyden honored him by electing him as a member of the board of education. He was chief of the fire department.

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, at one-thirty o'clock, at the home and at two-thirty at St. John's Lutheran church, northwest of Boyden. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 17, 1930, at the St. Paul's Lutheran church, with Rev, Edward Gorlnger In charge and interment was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Diekevers, Jim Smit, John Vander Haar, Albert Grooters, Jake DeBoer and Tony Moerman. These pallbearers were all employees of the Farmers Co-operative Association, and worked side by side with Mr. Henning for many years.
