Virgil B Vonk, 57, of Gilbert, formerly of Rock Valley, went to meet his Lord on Nov. 11, 2017 passing from a heart condition.

Memorial services will be 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Royal Meadows Nursing Home in Sioux Center, Iowa.
After graduating from Rock Valley Community High School, he farmed on the family farm. He then served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, N.C. from 1984 to1987.

He worked at the Post Office for 29 years in Le Mars, Iowa, Sioux Falls, S.D., Indianapolis, Ind., Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Gilbert.
Virgil loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of Bethany Community Church in Arizona and a devout Christian. He never hesitated to help someone out and will be remembered as having a kind heart.
Virgil is survived by his mother, Winifred Vonk, Sioux Center; siblings, Dennis (Gayle) Vonk of Le Mars, and Beverly (Dan) Ohman of Ames, Iowa; three nieces; one nephew; three grandnephews; and two grandnieces.
