Rose Anne Bullock, 89, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, December 8, 2017. She was born March 13, 1928 in Owatonna, MN to Edward and Elizabeth (Van Olst) Bullock.

Rose graduated from the Jackson High School of Jackson, Michigan, in 1946. She then went to the WA Foote Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson, Michigan and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Michigan College. Later, she earned her Master of Nursing Degree from the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida.

Rose worked as a staff nurse, surgical nurse and obstetrics nurse at various locations including Jackson, Michigan; San Diego, California; Ganada and San Carlos, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico; Denver, Colorado and Gainesville, Florida.

In August of 1969, Rose was called to Somerset, KY where she had a major role in developing the Associate Degree Nursing program at UK/Somerset Community College (now KCTCS). As a nursing instructor for 25 years, Rose touched many student’s lives and left a lasting legacy on the nursing community in Somerset and beyond.

After retiring from SCC in 1994, Rose continued to work part-time at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in the obstetrics department. She also volunteered with Senior Friends, St. Mildred’s Outreach Center and other organizations. As an active member of St. Patrick Episcopal Church, Rose sang in the choir and enjoyed breakfast with church friends after Sunday services.

Over the years, Rose participated in community choir and various theatrical productions, sharing her beautiful soprano voice and fun-loving spirit. She will be missed by cousins and numerous friends across the miles as well as locally by her church family, professional colleagues, friends and staff at The Neighborhood, her devoted sitters, and special friends and caregivers, Danny and Diane Kiser and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Bullock and an infant brother, Doyle Bullock.

Rose always enjoyed her pets – they held a special place in her heart. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, P.O. Box 448 Somerset, KY 42502 or the Somerset Southeast Camp of the Gideons, P.O. Box 1266 Somerset, KY 42502.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at St. Patrick Episcopal Church located at 206 W. Columbia, Somerset, KY . A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at St. Patrick Episcopal Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Marcia Hunter and Rev. Amanda Musterman officiating. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, December 16, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, Iowa. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements of Rose Anne Bullock.
