Mrs. Jennie Kooiker Dies

Mrs. Jennie Kooiker, 84 a long time resident of Sioux County died Sunday evening, February 18, 1951, after an illness of several months due to a heart ailment.

She was born in Netherlands on July 4, 1866. She came to the U.S. directly to Sioux County in 1885. She was united in marriage to John Kooiker in 1887.

She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1930 at the age of 76. She was also preceded in death by two sons who died in early childhood and by her son Luke who died in 1944 at the age of 54.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at the home at 1:00 p.m. and the First Reformed Church in Hull at 1:30 p.m. Reverend William De Jong will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery with Van Etten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are the following children: Dr. Herman J. Kooiker of Cincinnati, Ohio; Ralph J. Kooiker of Hull; Nick J. Kooiker of Boyden; Mrs. Al Vande Stouwe of Hull; Dick Kooiker of Chicago; Mrs. Tom Woody of La Quinta, California; Pete Kooiker of Hull; Mrs. Vernon Fleming of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Dr. Clarence Kooiker of Springfield, Missouri.

Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
