Joseph Kokenge, 76, Granville, died July 7 at Orange City Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10 A.M. July 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Hoffman officiating. Burial in the church cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

The Rosary was recited at 5, 7:30, and 8:30 P.M. on July 9 at Spalding Hall.

Mr. Kokenge was born July 11, 1898, to Henry and Josephine (Nemmers) Kokenge in Alton and lived in Alton and Granville areas all of his life. He married Catherine Kellen April 5, 1921, in Le Mars, and she died April 26, 1971. He farmed in Alton area before his retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond of Granville, Vincent of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Virgil of New Lberia, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cy of Hartley and Matt of George, and three sisters, Mrs. Ted (Frances) Kelin and Mrs. Gerald (Edna) McCarthy, both of Granville and Mrs. Wilfred (Maureen) Van Bergen of Worthington, Minnesota.
