Elizabeth Koele, 91, of Des Moines, died Thursday, February 2, in Des Moines. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at the American Reformed Church of Hull with the Reverend Phillip Sneller officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Hull.

Mrs. Koele was born September 19, 1897 in Sioux County, the daughter of August Wagner and Augusta Windorf Wagner. She moved with her family to Birchwood, Wisconsin, where she spent her early childhood and adolescence.

As a young adult, she returned to Sioux County, where she was employed as a postal clerk and in a ladies wear store in Hull.

She married Henry E. Koele, who passed away June 25, 1963. In August of 1980, she became a resident of Calvin Manor in Des Moines.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth, and her husband Kenneth Mitchell; son, Earl, and his wife, Juanita, all of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond; one grandson, Allen; three sisters, Augusta, Mary and Anna; and two brothers, Fred and Ernest.
