Funeral services for Frederick Claus Kock, 87, who died Saturday at his home in Rock Valley, were held Tuesday afternoon, September 6, at Peace Lutheran Church, Reverend Pricb officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kock, who has been active in community affairs, had been secretary of the Rock Valley School Board for 17 years. He had been a director of the Farmers Co-operative Elevator, Farmers Lumber Company, Farmers Creamery Company, Community Oil Company and the German Mutual Insurance Company. He was born July 27, 1868 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to the United States at the age of 16. After residing four years in Tama County, Iowa he moved to Sioux County, Iowa, where he had lived the last 66 years.

He married Anna Schuldt January 29, 1892. He retired from farming eight years ago and moved to Rock Valley.

Survivors are the widow; six sons: Louis of Inwood, Iowa, Walter of Worthing, South Dakota, Fritz of Hudson, South Dakota and George, Edward and Roy, all of Rock Valley; five daughters: Mrs. Minnie Groth and Miss Tillie Kock, both of Rock Valley; Mrs. Lizzie Kahl and Mrs. Dorothy McKearney, both of Inwood and Mrs. Elsie Bosler of Alvord, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
