Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 18, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City for Mrs. Gertrude Kleinhesselink, who passed away early Wednesday morning following a lingering illness with complications, which ended with a stroke Monday from which she failed to rally.

Mrs. William Kleinhesselink was born on April 22, 1908, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Lena (Reuvers) Smit of Alton. Mrs. Kleinhesselink served on the Orange City hospital staff as registered nurse for approximately 10 years and from 1945 until 1961 she was the proprietor of the Convalescent Nursing Home.

Surviving are three sons: George of Orange City, Walter of Le Mars, and Robert of Orange City; two daughters: Lois (Mrs. Harold Draayer) of Ireton and Betty (Mrs. Clarence Jasper) of Orange City;11 grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. F.R. Sawyer of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. John Kleinhesselink of Orange City, Mrs. J.A. Lawlor of San Diego, California, and Mrs. J.R. Westfall of Waterloo; three brothers: Dr. Walter Smit of Ames, Iowa, Mr. Charles R. Smit of Wabasha, Minnesota, and Frederick D. Smit of Riverside, California. One sister died in 1945 and one brother passed away in 1924.

Interment was made at the Nassau Cemetery at Alton.
