M. Gossen Dies here Tuesday Had Lived in Community Almost Half a Century

Michael Gossen, a resident of this community for almost a half century, died at his home here on Tuesday. His death was the result of a stroke suffered the night before. His condition generally had been poor for many years, as the result of strokes suffered something over ten years ago.

Michael Gossen was born in Peoria, IL., on September 16, 1869. He was the son of William and
Margaret Dorn Gossen. As a young man he came to the Rock Rapids community where he worked as a
well contractor for many years. In 1901 he was united in marriage to Helen McCabe who preceded
him in death.

Six children survive Mr. Gossen. They are Mrs. John McCord of Cherokee; William of Grlnnell; Sgt. Del Gossen In England; Sgt. Michael Gossen, stationed in Omaha; Orville, with the navy in the Southwest Pacific; and Kathryn Gossen of this city. There will be a private funeral at the Gossen home at 9 o'clock Friday morning.
