From the Sioux County Index (Hull), July 9, 1926, Boyden news:

Mrs. Cornelius DeValois nee Adriana H. VanWyk, was born February 25th at Pella, Iowa, and passed away at Boyden, Iowa, June 28th, 1926, at the age of 59 years, 4 months, and 3 days.

Another news note: J. J. DeValois, who is attending the State College at Ames, was home to be with his mother, who is in a critical condition.

Another news note, Orange City news: Mr. and Mrs. Arie VanWyk were called to Boyden Sunday, June 27th, on account of the serious illness of the former’s sister, Mrs. C. DeValois. She passed away Monday and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon.

From the Alton Democrat, July 2, 1926:

Boyden news: Mrs. C. De Valois who had been an invalid for about 15 months was taken seriously ill the last of the week and has been steadily failing since and it has been expected hourly that death would relieve her from her suffering. Her immediate family has been with her since her condition changed for the worse.

Hull news: P. H. Van Wyk received the sad news that his sister, Mrs. De Valois of Boyden passed away at her home Monday evening at 8 o’clock.

Her death certificate has her as Jenny De Valois, born Feb. 25, 1867 in Pella, Iowa; husband Cornelus Devalois; parents James J. Van Wyk and Nelly Noteboom, both born in the Netherlands; died at 7:30 [p.m.?], June 28, 1926; cause, hypostatic pneumonia, duration 2 days; contributory cause, pernicious anemia, duration 1 year 6 months.
