Joe Klein Dies After Long Illness at Sioux Center

Joe Klein passed away at his home in Sioux Center on Tuesday morning February 5, after a long and painful illness. He had reached the age of 64 years.

Funeral services were held Friday at the home and at the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverend Bernard Haan officiating. Burial took place at the Sioux Center Cemetery with the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Klein was born on August 25, 1887 at New Holland, South Dakota, and came to Iowa at an early age, moving to a farm, with his parents. On February 18, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Kate Harmsen.

The couple lived on a farm near Lebanon for 14, years and then moved to Rock Valley for one year. They then moved back to Sioux Center where they farmed for a number of years, retiring and moving into town about 13 years ago.

He is now survived by his widow and five children, Alice (Mrs. Hilbert Heynen) of Sioux Center, John of Hospers, Agnes (Mrs. Dave Sybesma) of Alton, Mrs. Dena Rozeboom of Sioux Center and Cora (Mrs. Bert Engelsman) of Boyden.

He is further survived by 13 grandchildren and five brothers, Neal of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Marion of Maurice, John Lewis and Arthur all of Sioux Center and one sister Mrs. Harry Ten Harmsel also of Sioux Center.

One brother Peter preceded him in death.
