Mrs. Theodore (Frances) Klein, age 94, of Granville, died Wednesday, December 18,1996 at the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Granville under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Frances was born December 31, 1901 at rural Alton, the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Nemmers) Kokenge. She was raised and educated in the Alton area. She married Theodore Klein on January 16, 1922 at Alton. They farmed near Granville. Mr. Klein died February 26, 1989. Frances had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Nursing Home since May 20, 1992.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Church Guild and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Verna) Bunkers and Clarice and her husband Gerald Roder, all of Granville and Lois and her husband Eugene Wiltgen of Carlsbad, California; three sons and their wives: Marcel and Ann Klein, James and Angeline Klein, all of Granville and Merlyn and Jan Klein of Le Mars; 35 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William (Maureen) Van Bergen of Worthington, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Cyril (Martha) Kokenge of Alton.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Merlyn (Jeanne) Klein; a son-in-law, Jerome Bunkers; five brothers, Joseph, Alfred, Aloysius and Cyril, and Emmett in infancy; three sisters: Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Kellen, Irene Kokenge when a child, Mrs. Gerald (Edna) McCarthy; half brothers, John, Anthon, and Ernest and Bernard Kokenge in infancy; and two half sisters, Mary Kokenge in infancy and Mrs. Clem (Anna) Full.
