From the Sioux County Index (Hull), May 7, 1926:

YOUNG LIFE TAKEN

Roy VanderMeer, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. VanderMeer, who had very ill for a couple of weeks with brain fever and meningitis, died Wednesday, just after the noon hour. He had been reported very low for several days but the news came as a blow to his many friends. A trained nurse had been in attendance constantly and all that loving hands and medical skill could do, was done, but to no avail.

Roy was a fine, bright young man, and his death is surely a hard blow to his parents, brother and sisters and sincere sympathy is extended to them. We understand that the funeral will be held Saturday.
