Mrs. Henry W. Klein passed away June 10 at the Orange City hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks following an accident at her home in Alton when she sustained a fractured hip.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Alton Presbyterian Church of which she had long been a member and Sunday school teacher.

Hattie Riedeman was born in Wyhe, the Netherlands, on April 13, 1876, coming to this country with her parents at the age of 9. The family settled in 1886 at Alton where she had been a resident since that time, a period of almost 80 years.

She was married October 25, 1906, to Henry W. Klein who passed away last December 12, survived by one adopted son, Robert, of Des Moines.

Mrs. Klein was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, Century Chapter, and had served as Worthy Matron of that organization. She had two brothers and two sisters but a sister, Jeanette Riedeman, is the only one surviving, besides two nieces and four nephews who also survive.

Funeral services were conducted by Reverend John Maze, her pastor, with interment at Nassau Township Cemetery.

Among those present at the funeral of the beloved Alton resident were many friends from Orange City; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Moermond, Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Miedema, Hospers; Mrs. Neal Salie, Boyden; Mrs. I. H. Schroeder, Eagle Grove; Mrs. R. D. and Mrs. J. H. Van Peursem, Maurice; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wieringa, Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Okko Roos, Boyden; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Riedeman, Sanborn, Mr. and Mrs. William Klein and sons, Paul and Jim, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
