From the Rock Valley Bee, February 19, 1926, Plato Township news:

DEATH OF GUSTAV MUELLER

Gustav Mueller, a former Plato Township young man, died at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, February 3rd, 1926, where he was working with a bridge crew. On the morning of his death it was disagreeable weather, wet and also snowing some. Not many of the crew were working that morning, but Gustav thought he would try and work and was up on a hoisting crane when he slipped and fell 130 feet. Before the superintendent, who saw him fall, reached him life had expired.

The body was brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Lahn, of near Humboldt, S.D., where his parents also reside. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran Church of Humboldt, and burial took place near the church.

Mr. Mueller was born in Germany on July 4th 1904, and in the year of 1912 he came to America, and came to Plato Township. In the year of 1920 he with his parents and sister moved to Dawson, Minn. and later to Humboldt, where he was until last fall when he went to Milwaukee. He was very young, and only reached the age of 21 years 7 months and 30 days.

He leaves to mourn his death three sisters and three brothers, his parents and a host of friends and relatives. From here the people who attended the funeral were Chas. Gayer and son Wm., Mrs. Rica Miller, John Renschan and son Henry, Henry Renschan and Emil Lange.
