Hawarden, Iowa ~ Lorene Schuller, 89, of Hawarden, Iowa formerly of Ireton, Iowa died on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
   Funeral Service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Ireton Community Center in Ireton, Iowa with Dean Dykstra and Doreen Beyer officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Ireton Community Center. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
   Lorene Schuller was born July 24, 1928 to S.J. and Mildred (Hamerlund) House in Persia, Iowa. She was raised on a farm in Harrison County and graduated from Logan High School in 1946. Lorene worked in Sioux City, Iowa as a telegram receiver and then moved to Orange City, Iowa where she was employed at the Doornick Hospital.
   Lorene married Laurence Schuller on December 4, 1947. The couple were blessed with 8 children. They farmed near Ireton, Iowa until retirement in 1980. They lived on an acreage near Ireton. Lorene’s love was her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening. Laurence passed away on January 27, 2016.
   Survivors include their 8 children, Gerald and Lois Schuller of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Keith and Pam Schuller of Hawarden, Betty and Glen Gerritson of Hawarden, Cheryl and Dale Pies of Vale, South Dakota, Larry and Paula Schuller of Ireton, Jim and Cari Schuller of Gilbert, Arizona, John and Kristi Schuller of Smithville, Missouri, and Laurie McManaman of Remsen, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Shirley Van Ipren of Lake Park, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
   Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laurence; a sister, Jean Martin and her husband Kenneth; 7 brothers-in-law; 5 sisters-in-law; and 2 grandchildren, Jeanne Mae Gerritson and Tiffany Schuller.
