Anne Brommer, age 91, of Sioux Center, IA, died Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.
     Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 25th at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Van Rathbun officiating.  Prayer service will take place at 9:45 AM at Central Reformed Church before burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
      Visitation will be Tuesday, October 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with family present from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
      Memorials may be directed to Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center and/or Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care.
      Anne Brommer was born July 18, 1926, in Sioux Center, IA, the daughter of Jim and Henrietta (Vander Ven) Herweyer.  She was raised near Sioux Center and attended country school.  As a young girl her family moved to various farms in Sioux County.  She graduated in 1943, from Sioux Center High School and moved to Michigan where she worked in the War Factories, in order to support the war effort.  She returned to Sioux County and began teaching country school for 3 years. 
      On December 23, 1946, Anne was united in marriage to Donald Brommer.  To this union, one son and three daughters were born.  The couple lived their entire married life in Sioux Center.  Anne was a homemaker before she began working as a cook for the Sioux Center High School, where she continued to work for the following 30 years.
      Anne was a member of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center where she was active with the Women’s Guild, Women’s Bible Study and was a Sunday School Teacher.  She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading and camping with her family. 
     Anne entered Royale Meadows Care Center on 2008.  On September 26, 2017, Anne’s husband Donald died after 70 years of marriage.  Anne remained living at the care center until her death this past Thursday, October 19, 2017.
      Left to cherish her memory are her son, James (LaVonne) Brommer of Sioux Center, IA; daughters, Diane (Wilmer) Wynia of Ireton, IA, Jeanine (Daryl) Kleinhesselink of Mint Hill, NC and Debra (Doug) Tensen of Cedar Falls, IA; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren;  sister, Henrietta (Peter) Daale of Hawarden, IA; sister-in-law, Joey Herweyer of Hull, IA; brother-in-law, James (Penny) Brommer of Bend, OR; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Brommer; a grandson-in-law, Brent E. Ashley; 2 sisters, Jen Bleeker and Margaret Hubers; 3 brothers, Bill, Hank and Fritz Herweyer.
