Mr. Larry Van Der Stoep, age 60, of Maurice, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Hawarden Regional Healthcare.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, October 26, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. “Wick” Hubers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Larry Gene was born on December 22, 2017, in Sioux Center, the son of Dick and Gladys (De Jager) Van Der Stoep. He was raised on a farm near Maurice and graduated from the Maurice – Orange City High School.

On November 14, 1986, he married Marcia De Weerd in Ireton. They farmed near Maurice. Besides farming, he worked at L & D Electric in Ireton and drove truck.

Larry was a member of the First Reformed Church.

He enjoyed target shooting, small animal hunting, camping, and spending time with his wife and sons. He will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and willingness to help anyone in need.

Survivors include his wife of more than thirty years; two sons, Jeff Van Der Stoep, of Ireton; and Jeremy Van Der Stoep, and his fiancé, Julie Murillo, both of Orange City; a granddaughter, Lillian Cuny; a sister-in-law, Karen Van Der Stoep, of Maurice; and four nephews, Lukas Van Der Stoep, and his fiancé, Samantha Stewart, of Sioux Center; Jacob Van Der Stoep, and his wife, Ashley, of Orange City; and Matthew Van Der Stoep and Kyle Van Der Stoep, both of Maurice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Evelyn Van Der Stoep, and his brother, Lyle Van Der Stoep.
