Lena Fedders age 98 of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday September 27, 2017 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, IA.

   Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA with Rev. Carl Klompein, officiating.

    Prayer service for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2nd at the First Christian Reformed Church at Sioux Center.  Interment will follow the prayer service in the Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center, IA.

   Visitation will be Sunday, October 1st from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. with the family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     Lena (De Groot) Fedders was born on January 23, 1919, at Carmel, IA the daughter of Abraham and Jennie (Koel) De Groot.  Lena grew up in the Sioux Center area where she received her education at country school by Middleburg & Sioux Center.  On February 15, 1938, she was united in marriage to Ben H. Fedders in Ben’s parent’s home by Ireton.  They made their home in Rock Valley, George and Sioux Center.  Lena was a loving wife, mother and hardworking homemaker.  She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, where she served on the Christian School Guild and Golden Hour Society.  She often made Pig in Blankets for the Christian School Education Fund and also volunteered at the Sioux Center Christian School.  Lena was an excellent baker, enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, fixing puzzles and sharing her love for hospitality by hosting family events. 
     Lena is survived by her children, Bernie (Janice) Fedders of Ireton, IA; Kathy (Tunis) Vollink of Orange City, IA; Robert (Donna) Fedders of Doon, IA and Roger (Bonnie) Fedders of Ireton, IA; 17 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sisters, Gertrude Vis of Rock Valley, IA and Edna Vander Broek of Orange City, IA and sister-in-law, Eleanor De Groot of Orange City, IA.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Jennie; husband, Ben; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette (Carl) Kleinwolterink; grandson, Bruce Dale Vollink; great grandsons, Reece Ellefson and Benjamin Jon Fedders, Granddaughter-in-law, Janet Kleinwolterink; brothers, Henry De Groot, Cornelius De Groot, John William De Groot and Abraham “Bud” De Groot; sisters, Jacoba DeWeerd, Anna Kroon and Marie De Weerd.
