J.P. Konz died at this home four miles southeast of Alton on Sunday August 31st, of heart trouble--after a sick spell of several weeks. Deceased was born at St. Donatus, Jackson county, Iowa, on Dec. 27, 1867, and was therefore 46 years, 8 months and 4 days old when he passed away. When only three years of age he came to Sioux county with his parents who located on a homestead south of Alton. On March 31st 1890 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Noethe. The ceremony was performed in Remsen. This union was blessed with eleven children, all of whom survive. Deceased, having lived in Alton's vicinity practically all his life, was a well known character, and had many friends. He had been a successful farmer and he leaves his large family in comfortable circumstances. The funeral services were held from St. Mary's church on Tuesday Sept. 2nd. The funeral was a large one, many from neighboring towns attending. Very Rev. F.J. Brune had charge of the services. Deceased is survived by his widow and eleven children---Jack, Lilian, Laura, Gertrude, Julius, Leo, Jake, Marcelle, Florence, Albert and Mildred--all at home. He is also survived by four brothers and four sisters--John, Peter, Nic and P. of Alton and Mrs. St. John of LeMars, Mrs. John Noethe of Alton, Mrs. Andy Noethe of Sutherland, and Mrs. Peter Hansen of Alton. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Noethe of Altan, S.D., Will Noethe of Currey, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. John Mousel of Dell Rapids, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hendel and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kramer of Lismore, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Andy Noethe of Sutherland, Mrs. John St. John and daughter Margaret and son Bernard of LeMars and Mr. and Mrs. John Noethe of Granville were among those from abroad who attended the funeral services.
