The following, taken from the LeMars Sentinel, will be of interest to our readers as Mr. Elsen was quite well known here, having made his home here at one time: "Peter Elsen, a well known farmer residing five miles south of Remsen, died at Rochester, Minn., on Friday at a hospital where he had been taken to undergo an operation for ulcers of the stomach. Mr. Elsen had been a sufferer for some time from stomach trouble and went to Rochester about three weeks ago. The remains were brought to LeMars for interment and funeral services were held yesterday morning at St. Joseph's church. Peter Elsen was a native of Germany, where he was born fifty-three years ago. He came to Plymouth county twenty-eight years ago and shortly afterwards moved to Sioux county where he engaged in farming. Last March he moved onto a farm south of Remsen. He was married in LeMars twenty-one years ago to Miss Anna Wupperfeldt, who with six children survives him. They are Anna, Margaret, Lillie, Theresa, Clara and John. He also leaves two sister residing in Germany and a brother in California.
