Died: July 1, 1933

Last Saturday morning Alyda Marie Keizer died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Josie Rensink, at Newkirk, Iowa. She was born at Orange City, Iowa on March 10, 1897. At the age of 16 she united with the First Reformed Church of that city, she attended the Northwestern Classical Academy of Orange City until her health failed whereby she was compelled to leave school during her junior year. For the last 10 years she has been at home with her mother, residing at Alton.

When she was 16, Alyda was struck in the forehead with a slush-ice snowball and she developed seizers that were then labeled epilepsy, never married and passed away at the age of 36.

There are besides her widowed mother, Mrs. G. Keizer, six brothers and three sisters her loss. These are: Mrs. Sarah Schut of Granger, Washington, Mrs. Martha Giebink of Alton, Cornelius of Nyssa, Oregon, John of Alton, Peter of Le Mars, Josie Rensink of Hospers, Gerben of Fairview, South Dakota, Bert of Orange City, and Wesley of Alton A large number of other relatives and many intimate friends will feel the lass of Alyda Keizer very keenly.

Since coming to Alton, the departed has been very active in the work of the First Reformed Church of Alton of which she was a member. She has served in the capacity of Sunday school teacher for many years, has been president of the local Christian Endeavor society for some years, and has been secretary to the Gleaners’ society. Whenever her health would permit she was eager to do something for the Cause of her Master and His Kingdom. The local Reformed Church will miss the willingness to do the work which she exhibited.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the First Reformed Church at Alton by the pastor, Reverend J. R. Euwema and interment took place at the Nassau Township Cemetery. A large number of friends paid their last respects to a valued member of the community.
