R. Klay died at the hospital at Cherokee last Friday at the age of eighty-four. Deceased had for many years made his home with his daughter Mrs. Jacob De Vries until a few weeks ago when it was thought best because of his condition to take him to the hospital for treatment. The body was brought here on Saturday and was laid to rest on Monday, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. McEwan. Deceased is survived by six children, Mrs. Jacob De Vries of this place, Mrs. Zeeman of Estherville, Walter Klay of Montana, and three children residing in the Netherlands. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Zeeman of Estherville and their children Mr. ad Mrs. Brown of Minnesota and Mr. and Mrs. Smith of Emery South Dakota, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Klay of Rock Valley.
