From the Rock Valley Bee, December 18, 1925:

MRS. MARTHA PARMENTER

Mrs. Martha Parmenter passed away at the Rock Valley Hospital early Tuesday morning, her death being due to pernicious anemia. She was taken sick about a week before Thanksgiving and her friends advised her to go to the hospital which she did on Thanksgiving day, but the nature of her sickness was such that but little could be done for [her], and she continued to fail until the end came.

Mrs. Parmenter was born in Wisconsin May 10, 1849, and had attained the age of seventy-six years six months and twenty-seven days. She had lived in Rock Valley for a number of years, and was a woman who was well thought of by those who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Rock Valley Wednesday afternoon and the remains were shipped to Green Bush, Wisconsin, to be buried beside her husband, who preceded her in death several years ago.

A similar obituary was published in the Alton Democrat, December 25, 1925, Rock Valley news. It adds that she was a faithful worker in the Methodist church of which she was a member; and that her only surviving relative is a daughter, Miss Stella, who was ill and unable to attend the funeral.

Her death certificate has Martha Ellis Parmenter, widow, husband's name not given; born May 18, 1849 in Wisconsin; parents not known to the informant, Jake Vander Meide of Sheldon; died in Rock Valley, where she had lived for 10 years, on December 15, 1925, at 4 a.m., of pernicious anemia, which she had had for 1 year; buried at Glenbulah, Wisconsin.
