Rev. Hugo Beyer dies at Sheldon

Rev. Hugo Beyer, 68, a retired Lutheran pastor who at one time was pastor of the Peace Lutheran church here died Tuesday at a Sheldon hospital.

Rev. Mr. Beyer was born May 21, 1893 at Clayton Center. He was graduated from Wartburg college, Wartburg and Wartburg seminary, Dubuque, and was ordained in 1921. He married Katherine Heitritter August 29, 1923.

Rev. Mr. Beyer served congregations at Kimball, Kary, and Stamford, S. D. and Rock Valley, Wooden, and Sumner. He retired from active ministry in 1957.

Survivors include the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Talsma of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Margaret Moeller of Ottumwa and Mrs. Joyce Puff of Des Moines; a brother, Otto Beyer, of Elkader; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Thurn. and Mrs. Hattie Thurn, both of Edgewood and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran church in Sheldon. Rev. H. W. Siefkes and Rev. Arnold Jahr will officiate, and burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran church cemetery.
