Emma Kamstra, 105, of Orange City died Thursday, February 24, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

A funeral service was Saturday, February 26, at 2 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Orange City with Thomas Hydeen officiating. Interment was at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Emma Kamstra was born August 5, 1899, at Maurice, the daughter of Wilje and Lucy (De Jager) De Jager. She was raised in the Maurice area.

On February 19, 1919, she married John Kamstra at Orange City. They farmed in Sioux County until 1956, when they moved into Orange City. He died on July 1, 1957, in Orange City.

Mrs. Kamstra was a homemaker for her family and also a care giver to many relatives, friends, and neighbors. In 1999, she became a resident of the Heritage House.

She was a member of First Reformed Church. She enjoyed crocheting and singing in the Dutch language, especially with the Ladies' Zangkoor.

Survivors include four children, Bill Kamstra and his wife Evelyn of Sheldon, Jean Goslinga of Orange City, Tunis Kamstra and Gloria of Quincy, Washington, and Pete Kamstra and his wife Diane of Orange City; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Madeline and Darwin Houtsma of Visalia, California; 20 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Angie De Jager of Maurice.
