From the Sioux County Index (Hull), October 23, 1925:

DEATH ENTERS HOME

The little ten months old baby Gordon Keith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon H. Mackie, died last Monday evening at 6:15 o’clock. The death was caused by meningitis brought on by a short siege of intestinal flu. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2:00 o’clock from the American Reformed church. Interment was made in Hope Cemetery, Rev. Chas. Stoppels officiating. The sincere sympathy of all goes out to the grief-stricken parents, grand-parents and other relations.

From the Alton Democrat, October 30, 1925, Hull news:

Mrs. Henry Mackie and daughter Amber were here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mackie to attend the funeral of Gordon Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Mackie’s only child.

His death certificate shows him born December 11, 1924, son of Gordon H. Mackie, born in Hull, and Coba Marie Ver Steeg, born in Orange City; died Oct. 19, 1925 of meningitis, contributory cause intestinal intoxication.
