Mr. Bernard Krommendyk, age 86, of Hull, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, August 17, at 3:00pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday, at 2:00pm at the church.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Bernard Allan, who was known as “Bud”, was born on December 22, 1930, in Sioux Center, the son of Fred and Della (Dykstra) Krommendyk. He was raised in rural Hull. He attended the Perkins and Hull Christian Schools and the Western Christian High School in Hull.

On March 28, 1951, he married Luella Mae Smit at the American Reformed Church in Hull. They farmed near Hull until 1972, when they moved into town, where he was a cattle buyer. In 1985, they moved to California, where he was a salesman for a dairy equipment company. In 1996, they returned to Hull. In retirement, he transported vehicles for dealers, and he and “Lou” wintered in Arizona for several years.

Bud was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he belonged to the Bereans, the Men’s Society, and the Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed boating, bowling, cutting quilt blocks, golfing, going on tractor rides, and playing all kinds of games with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of more than 66 years; three children and their spouses, Glenda and Larry Oolman and Donald and Mary (Smit) Krommendyk, all of Hull; and Laura Miller, of Orange City; six grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher De Jong, Heidi Dokter, Shelly and Loren Van Otterloo, Bradley and Debra (Ver Burg) Krommendyk, Abby Damstra, and Brooke and Zachary Schauf; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Sikma, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two brothers, Berwyn Krommendyk, and his wife, Hilda, of Beresford, South Dakota; and Fred Krommendyk, of Orange City; and a sister-in-law, Sofie Krommendyk, of Grand Rapids.

He is also survived by Lou’s brothers and sisters and their spouses, Phyllis Wissink, Ardell Smit, Howard and Arlene Smit, Judy Kersbergen, Alan and Rose Smit, Betty Smit, and Harold and Mary Van Otterloo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Glenn De Jong; two brothers, Williard Krommendyk and an infant; an infant sister, a brother-in-law, Roger Sikma; and a sister-in-law, Jane Krommendyk.
