William Aaron Jiskoot died Oct. 11 after a long illness at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Jiskoot. Mr. Jiskoot was 85 years old at the time of his death.

He was born May 4, 1861 in Province North Braband, the Netherlands. When a youth of 17 years he came with his parents to the United States and the family settled on a farm in the Maurice vicinity, where they were pioneer residents.

On December 11, 1889 he married Miss Wilhelmina Klein and the union was blessed with two sons, Peter and William, both of Alton.

Surviving are his aged widow and two sons, 1 granddaughter, 4 grandsons and one great- granddaughter.

After his marriage Mr. Jiskoot farmed in the Maurice and Hospers vicinity for some years and 28 years ago moved to Alton. He was known as a good farmer, a devoted husband and father and a kind neighbor.

The couple enjoyed their home here until a few weeks ago when in order to give the father better care they were taken to the home of their son William.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church Monday afternoon. Reverend Hesselink officiating, and burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery.
