The Death Angel entered the L. Heemskerk home last Saturday morning and took therefrom the Grandfather, Mr. C. VanDuyn.

Mr. VanDuyn had made his home with the Heemskerks for many years and at the time of his death was eighty-two years and five months old. He was born in Holland in 1843 and came to this country in 1881. He was married three times, his first wife dying in the old country. To this union, four children were born, namely, Mrs. Jannetje VanZanten of New Holland, South Dakota, Mrs. T. VandeBos, Leen VanDuyn and Mrs. M. Vugteveen, all of Rock Valley. His second wife was Mrs. Closiene VanGeest. She died in 1907. The following year he was again married to Mrs. Maaike Bell, who died in 1919. There were no children to the last two unions.

Besides his four children he is survived by three step-children, Mrs. L. Heemskerk, Mrs. K. Boote, and Mr. Peter Bell. There are 27 grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday from the house and the remains were taken to Rock Valley to be buried beside loved ones buried there, Rev. Geerlings conducting the services. Sincere sympathy is extended by all to all of the bereaved ones.
