Mr. Conrad De Wild, well known former Sioux County farmer, died from a heart attack on Wednesday morning, January 11, 1956 at his home in Hull, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, January 14, at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Nickolas Rozeboomhad charge of devotions and John De Jongh, pastor of the Protestant Reformed Church and a neighbor of the De Wilds, spoke at the home. The Reverend Nickolas Rozeboom officiated at the services which were held at the First Reformed Church and at the burial services which were at the Hope Cemetery.

Mr. De Wild was born on November 7, 1892 on a farm five miles south of Hull, Iowa. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John and Antonia (Verploeg) De Wild were early residents of this community. Mr. De Wild spent his early childhood on the farm south of Hull and attended the country schools of that community.

On February 22, 1917, he was united in marriage to Winnie Brunsting and settled on a farm near Newkirk where they lived for three years and then moved to the present De Wild farm two miles east and 1½ miles south of Hull. This farm is now occupied by his son, Henry T. De Wild.

Mr. De Wild was known as an excellent farmer and for many years was a member of the Hull Co-op Association serving as an officer for a number of years. Mr. De Wild was a progressive farmer, deeply interested in improving farming methods and production.

At an early age he made confession of his faith In the First Reformed Church of Hull. When 33 years of age he was elected to serve as deacon in the church. He held this office for a number of years until he was elected to serve as an elder in the church.

At the time of his death Mr. De Wild was the vice-president of the Consistory. He served almost 30 years in the consistory of the First Reformed Church. He also served as Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher and also served as Catechism teacher. He was always prepared to work for the church and at times served at a sacrifice to himself and his family. He was respected and loved by his fellow members who know him as a deeply devout servant of Christ.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Winnie, two sons, John of Rock Rapids, Henry T. of Hull, Angelina, Mrs. Dick Aardsma of Chicago, Illinois, and Ruby, Mrs. Norman Vander Lee of Sheldon.

He also leaves to mourn his departure three brothers, Henry of Hull, John of Hull, and Albert of Boyden; and three sisters, Pearl, Mrs. L. R. Kooiker of Hull, Henrietta, Mrs. D.H. Wisslnk of Orange City, and Alice, Mrs. H. J. Van Wyk of Orange City and nine grandchildren.
