Muriell Kuiken Hop, 95 passed away on Monday Sept. 12, at Life Care in Greeley, CO.
She was born an home on August 13, 1921 to Jake and Alida Kuiken in Maurice.
Muriel has two brothers and four sisters. When her father passed away she was 12 years old. Her mother remarried Titus Van Bruggen and he brought 5 sons and 5 daughters to the marriage, so they were a family of 17 children. She stated "We never had alot of money, but always had a nice, warm house and plenty to eat." She started school at the age of five and also attended a year of college.
In 1939 she moved with Andy Hop and her sister Nellie to Bellflower, CA.

She married Andy Hop on May 17, 1940 in Yuma, AZ. There were married for 65 years before he passed away in 2005. They moved to CO in 1968 where they stared dairy farms for some of their children. She lived on the farm until moving to the Bridge in 2006.
They purchased a cattle ranch in Walden which they owned from 1975-1978. Andy and Muriel also bought a second home in MOntana where they enjoyed time with Jackie's family through the years. They enjoyed traveling to Indio CA for the winter months.
Muriel was a member of Kersey Community CHurch and TOPS. She loved music enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and was a member of the Greeley Women's Choir for many years.

Muriel survived by a son, Jay (Ele) Hop, daughters Nadine (Hank) De Jong, Jackie (Arthur) Hommes and Elaine (Greg Danhoff, daughter-in-law Maureen (Larry) Hop-Hergenreder; and stepbrother Ted (Geri) Van Bruggen. She is also survived by 53 grandchildren, 18 great-grand children and 11 great-grandchildren, many in-laws and nieces and nephews who were very precious to her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Andy Hop, son Rick Hop, daughter-in-law Paula Hop and Rodney De Jong and grandsons in-law Gene Alles and Larry Connolly.
