Arnold Alvin Toering, age 83 of East Grand Rapids, MI, went to his heavenly home and into the arms of Jesus on Mon. Oct. 17, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Karen Stanton, and brothers, David Toering and Rod Toering.

Arnold was the second of the thirteen children born to Mince and Nellie (Steenhoven) Toering on March 13, 1933 in Hospers. He attended Hospers Christian School. Arnold proudly served in the US Army was a residential and commercial builder.

A memorial service was held Sat. Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Mong officiating. Interment was in Ada, Mi. Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Doris, children, Julie and Peter (Michelle) Toering, his grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Daniel (Andrea) Hart, Andrew Stant, Grant, Sam, Leah and Jack Toering; his brothers and sisters, Henry and Joyce, Karleen Smits, Alma and Charles Warren, Wilma Ilbrink, Norma and John Van Wyk, Marilyn and Duane Trumpie, Nancy Toering, Steve and Corey, Myron and Marla, Sharon Dykhuizen, Marvin and Linda, and Craig Toering, Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bert and Al Hofstra, Jean Schutte, Gene Geib, Don and Fran Van Polen, Laurabelle and Dirk Baartman, Ken and Shareon Van Polen.
