CHARLES KLEIN

Born in Boikengen, Koiniegh Reicht, Wurttenburg, Germany, December 7, 1844. At the age of 12 he landed near Homer Creek, Wis. with his widowed mother and four brothers and one sister, namely: Christopher, August, Adolph, William, and sister Mary, now Mrs. Hershinger. As the Civil War broke out his brothers, William, August and Adolph served their adopted country, leaving him to care for his aged mother and his sister Mary.

After farming near Baraboo, Wis., for several years he decided to move to Sioux county to take up a homestead, namely, on Sec. 14, Rock township, on which he later proved up.

On March 27, 1907, he lost his beloved wife. Since then he has been making his home with his children, mostly on the old homestead where he died September 30, at 6:30 P.M., at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 23 days.
