Mrs. Jane Krommendyk, age 70, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, July 13, at 3:30pm, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. John Klompien and the Rev. Aldon Kuiper will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Thursday, at 2:15pm, at the church.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Elma Jane was born on March 2, 1947, in Orange City, the daughter of Clarence and Jeanette (De Jager) Den Hartog. She was raised at Orange City, where she attended the Christian School. She graduated from the Western Christian High School in Hull and the Le Mars Beauty School.

On October 3, 1966, she married Fred Krommendyk in Orange City. They made their home in several communities until 1971, when they settled in Orange City. She was a homemaker, as well as a beautician at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City and a cook at the Orange City Christian School. She was most known for being a sales clerk at the Dutch Mill Pharmacy in Orange City.

Jane was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, where she taught Friendship Bible classes and sang in the choir. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, taking photographs of her children and grandchildren, and going to the Iowa Great Lakes.

Survivors include her husband of fifty years; three sons and their wives, Michael and Lisa (Dorhout) Krommendyk and Robert and Diane (Alsum) Krommendyk, all of Orange City; and Patrick and Julie (Vanderploeg) Krommendyk, of Hamburg, Minnesota; a daughter, Shannon Marie Krommendyk, of Orange City; twelve grandchildren, Kaira, Raegan, and Sydney Krommendyk; Noah, Chloe, and Isaac Krommendyk; and Allyson, Brenna, Bennett, Tyler, Micah, and Jake Krommendyk; a brother and his wife, Dennis and Sherry (Roetman) Den Hartog, of Orange City; and four sisters, Marcia, and her husband, Terry Arends; Becky, and her husband, Curt Vogel; Donna Den Hartog; and Shirley, and her husband, Daryl Beltman, all of Orange City.

She is also survived by Fred’s family, two brothers, Bernard Krommendyk, and his wife, Luella, of Hull; and Berwyn Krommendyk, and his wife, Hilda, of Beresford, South Dakota; and a sister, Harriet Sikma, and a sister-in-law, Sophie Krommendyk, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Sue Krommendyk; Fred’s brother, Williard Krommendyk; and his brother-in-law, Roger Sikma.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Christian School or the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
